About our Food Festival
In late 2011, a group of local business owners got together over a pint (…or two) and turned their thoughts to all the wonderful local produce that we are surrounded by in Macroom. What about some sort of festival that could showcase the food? With a backdrop of great music? And something just for the kids?
The conversation grew and in September 2012, the inaugural Macroom Food Festival took place. Over three exceptionally sunny days, the town and its venues, parks and squares came alive with delicious smells and tastes, the sound of great live music, cookery demonstrations and happy people.
Each year since then, the festival has grown, incorporating a myriad of foodie events from eight course tasting extravaganzas to food themed comedy to Vintage Teatime Swing Dancing, Taste Trails, cooking demonstrations and a lot more in between.
After a pandemic-induced hiatus in 2020, Macroom Food Festival returned in 2021, albeit on a slightly restricted scale with a series of fun virtual events, an outdoor market & the usual great food & music.

Macroom Food & Family Festival will take place from Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of September 2025. In partnership with Danone Nutricia Macroom, we are delighted to invite you and your students to take part in a very special event.
On Sunday 21st September, we will celebrate the creativity and skills of senior cycle students in our Schools Cook-Off Competition. We know that Home Economics classrooms are full of talented young chefs producing exciting and delicious dishes, and this event offers a fantastic platform to showcase that talent to a wider audience. We would greatly appreciate your support in encouraging your Senior Cycle students to participate.
