Dorothy O'Tuama of Lee Valley Taste Trails and Macroom Buffalo Farm will host an Open Day 1 hour tour on Friday 22nd September.
This is a unique opportunity to visit Ireland's only dairy Water Buffalo herd in Killnamartyra, just south west of Macroom.Enjoy a leisurely guided stroll on the farm and see the magnificent 170 buffaloes in the paddocks and indoor barns. Learn about this new curious species to Ireland. View the milking parlour and have a Q & A with the farmer Johnny Lynch on Buffalo Animal Husbandry. A delicious tasting of the 2016 Gold Medal award winning mozzarella cheese is included to enjoy before you leave us.

Tickle your taste buds at over 60 fabulous artisan food and drink stalls. A true showcase for the finest food and drink Cork has to offer. The market stalls are run by the producers themselves which provides a unique opportunity for visitors to learn first-hand about the products on offer. From gourmet burgers to pig on a spit, cheeses, baked treats, barista coffees and everything in between.

Schools Cook-off on the Town Square, Macroom
Students of Cork and Kerry's secondary schools will battle it out to win the Macroom Food Festival 2017 Toddlebox Schools Cook-off. Each student must create or modify a recipe for a dish of their choice, nutritionally suitable for a toddler, using only locally sourced produce. Finalists will cook their dish in the open air on Sunday 24th September, in front of a live audience. Come join us at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
