About our Food Festival
Macroom is renowned as one of Ireland’s most picturesque ‘market towns’, with a long food related history. In 2012 a dynamic group of Macroom business people and volunteers joined forces to promote the town’s rich heritage and celebrate Ireland’s growing international reputation for fine artisan foods with the first ever Macroom Food Festival. Over three sunny days in late September, the town of Macroom came to life with wonderful food, music and wine.
The 2017 festival aims to be even bigger, busier and better than previous years. As in previous years, Macroom Food Festival 2017 will be a fun few days for families, as well as a key culinary weekend in the diaries of serious foodies. From live music to a schools cook-off, a massive outdoor food market and various talks, demos and taste trails, this not to be missed event will showcase the finest artisan foods and producers from Macroom, Cork and even further afield.
The festival organising committee is headed up by the Lee Valley Enterprise Board and Macroom Town Council. The 2017 festival chairperson is Don Buckley of the Castle Hotel, ably assisted by a team of volunteers from a variety of businesses and organisations in the town of Macroom – namely Macroom E Enterprise Centre, Michael Twomey’s Butchers, the Riverside Park, Clancy's Fresh Fish, No. 57 Gourmet Kitchen, student volunteers and teachers.
This year again, we are delighted and grateful to our very kind sponsors, without whom, this festival would not be possible.
Macroom Food Festival 2017 will run from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th September 2017. Click for full programme.
